This Calculator will figure the effective compression ratio using your inputs.



Since a street car rarely sees full throttle, use a smaller VE% (such as 60-70%).

If you keep the rpm's down, the VE% is smaller.

If the Effective CR is low enough there will be less chance of detonation on pump gas under part-throttle.
On the street (part throttle) you can run pump gas.
At the strip use higher octane fuel. (full throttle)
